Young Professionals discover how to get involved in our community

The Reno-Tahoe Young Professionals Network (RTYPN) is thrilled to announce the launch of The Pebble Project, which will take place on July 2nd from 5:30 to 7:00 PM at the future Nevada Discovery Museum. The theme of the launch, which is the first of quarterly Pebble Project events, will be Arts and Special Events. Thanks to a grant from Kaizen Consulting Services and co-sponsored by The American Red Cross of Northern Nevada, RTYPN members will learn about volunteerism and board membership and have direct access to community organizations and their leadership opportunities. Organizations expected to be present at the launch are: the American Red Cross of Northern Nevada, Artown, Reno Chamber Orchestra, Reno Philharmonic, Nevada Opera, Holland Project, AVA Ballet, National Automobile Museum, Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival, Make-A-Wish of Northern Nevada, Nevada Museum of Art, Reno Arts Commission, Reno Balloon Races, Sierra Arts and Youth Art Works.

Kaizen Consulting Services has generously provided the “Pebble” and RTYPN members will provide the “Effect” by becoming involved in leadership positions with organizations in our community. At each quarterly Pebble Project event, members can learn about board, committee and volunteer opportunities in local nonprofit and government (citizen and neighborhood advisory groups) organizations. Representatives will be there to meet, chat with and get to know members who want to become more involved.

No other organization in northern Nevada boasts a quest to inspire volunteerism like the RTYPN through The Pebble Project. The founders of this project hope to create a long-lasting and incredible difference in our community, which includes improving quality of life, inspiring charitable and economic growth and developing a unified community spirit across our region. As stated by Kaizen Consulting Services, “it’s about ‘being significant’ – the effect of one’s achievements are multiplied when focused on the greater good of the community!”

The mission of the RTYPN is to cultivate an informed and involved young professional community in the Truckee Meadows in order to retain and attract young and diverse talent. For more information on becoming a member of the RTYPN, visit www.renotahoeypn.com. To RSVP for the July 2nd Pebble Project launch, please email RSVP@renotahoeypn.com.

Marketing AAA Baseball In Reno

Tuesday, June 3rd, 2008

The bases are loaded. Here comes the pitch.
It’s the biggest thing to happen to downtown Reno since Bill Harrah opened his bingo parlor. Last September, the Reno City Council inked a deal with SK Baseball and Nevada Land LLC to build a 10,000-seat AAA baseball stadium and move the Tucson Sidewinders to Northern Nevada in 2009.
The new stadium will be located along the Truckee River at the historic Freight House site, right in the heart of Downtown Reno. They’re building it – but how will they draw the fans to fill those seats?
In this month’s fast-paced pitch from SK Baseball, you’ll hear about:

* The ins and outs of a successful product launch.
* Scoring a brand home run.
* Hitting it out of the park with today’s fickle fans
* Using promotions to load up the bases.

Our Speaker
Brett McGinness heads up marketing for SK Baseball LLC, the organization bringing Triple-A baseball to downtown Reno.

Brett spent seven years with the San Francisco Giants in consumer marketing research, sponsorship and promotions.  He planned the Giants’ 10,000th franchise victory celebration, developed single-game attendance prediction metrics and created the team’s first partial-season ticket packages.  As an intern in 2001, he served coffee to Willie Mays, and has the partially-chewed swizzle stick to prove it.
