Somer Athari, from left, Emily Lowe, and Season Lopiccolo, all with Noble Studios in Carson City, hold a conference call April 3 with the Nevada’s Center for Entrepreneurship and Technology

Season Lopiccolo’s actual title is operations director at Noble Studios Marketing and Web Development, but the staff has dubbed her “loose ends director.”

She brings together many different aspects of the business, working with clients and with employees. She’s full of passion for the business, and that’s something she encourages in her employees and in anyone thinking of running any business.

To help build passion in new business, Lopiccolo and her staff have been working closely with Nevada’s Center for Entrepreneurship and Technology in the promotion of a project that encourages college students to build viable business plans. The 2007 Nevada Donald W. Reynolds Governor’s Cup program, in its third year, winds up with an awards ceremony on Thursday in Reno.

Question: Why are you in marketing and public relations?

Lopiccolo: It started with the writing. I really enjoy it, back in college and even before that, for as long as I can remember. I’ve always been the one who likes to write short stories with a point. And marketing and PR sort of have that same feel. They grab from your creativity, and they allow you to talk more on the passionate side of things. I’m a very passionate person. I love the fact that I get to use that on a daily basis.

the latest trends in social media and citizen journalism

yielding control of the message to the market

monitoring and participating in digital conversations

drafting and measuring search engine optimized press releases

growing communities and reaching niche audiences through audio and video podcasts

using RSS to stay top of mind with key audiences

autonomously integrating websites into PR campaigns without relying on webmasters

This month’s PRSA luncheon features Eric Schwartzman, managing director of Schwartzman & Associates (www.schwartzmanpr.com), a leading-edge boutique PR firm based in Los Angeles. He presents the highlights of his exclusive UCLA February class entitled ‘Intro to New Media PR.’ In this PR training course, Eric teaches his attendees about:

the latest trends in social media and citizen journalism

yielding control of the message to the market

monitoring and participating in digital conversations

drafting and measuring search engine optimized press releases

growing communities and reaching niche audiences through audio and video podcasts

using RSS to stay top of mind with key audiences

autonomously integrating websites into PR campaigns without relying on webmasters

While one hour does not give Eric the time to address what he covers in five sessions at UCLA, he will give us the highlights and answer your questions about how organizations are integrating blogs, podcasts, RSS and the web into marketing and PR campaigns.

Along with speculation about “The Game”, there’s growing hype about the Super Bowl ads.

Will they be better than last year?

What will a 30 second spot cost?

Will the amateur-created ads be any good, or better than the pros?

Did the “Will you marry me?” guy get his sponsor?

But, what about the ROI?

Yes, that uncomfortable place where our feet are held to the fire and it’s all about results. There are lessons for us all in the Super Bowl ads, as we allocate our marketing budgets and consider the answers to these questions.

Which ad is most effective?

Which is the best marketing tool?

And which, if any, should really be spending that kind of dough on placement in the Super Bowl?

Join us as we watch the Super Bowl ads, and hear our panel of creative AND strategy experts dissect them.

Moderator, Stephanie Kruse is President and Principle of KPS|3. Joining Stephanie is a panel of marketing pros, including Cynthia Moore, Marketing Director, at Meadowood Mall, Debbie Jost, President/Founder of Media Access Group, and Tim O’Brien, Creative Director at R&R Partners, who ask the hard questions when they plan a campaign. A marketing strategist/account planner, a media buyer and a creative director will battle on our podium. (Photos, top to bottom, Stephanie Kruse, Cynthia Moore, Debbie Jost and Tim O’Brien)

Great Super Bowl Debate.

Your opinion counts when you cast your vote for The People’s Choice Super Bowl Ad Awards:

The most bodacious ad most likely to be remembered

The ad that hit the mark, got results and made the marketers smile

The best “OK, I just like this one” ad Â

Reno, NV (October 4, 2006) — The International Headquarters of the American Marketing Association honored the AMA’s Reno-Tahoe Chapter this week with the “Programming Excellence Award” for the best overall programming in 2005-2006. The Reno-Tahoe Chapter was selected from 75 different chapters across the U.S. and Canada.

“I am proud of, and I appreciate, all the hard work of the Reno-Tahoe AMA’s board and committee members who made last year such a success,” said President Dave Archer. “The future success of our chapter rests on the innovation and commitment of member-volunteers who focused on delivering the very best educational and networking opportunities to Northern Nevada’s marketing professionals and business leaders.”

Archer added, “Special recognition belongs to Dave Roberts for his work with each of the AMA lunches as well as this year’s new half-day seminar for small businesses; Mike Rainey for creating the new “AMA in the AM” breakfast seminars, and Angela White for the “ACE Awards” competition and awards gala. This award is the recognition of their good, old-fashioned hard work and dedication, and the work and dedication of the entire Reno-Tahoe AMA chapter.”

AMA International Headquarters created the Chapter Excellence Awards (CEA) program to commend outstanding achievements in AMA chapter leadership and operations. Criteria for the Programming — Overall Excellence award included superior programming communications, regular programming, alternative programming, special events and programming satisfaction.

Past presidents of award-winning CEA chapters and members of AMA’s Professional Chapters Council served as volunteer judges for the awards process.

The Reno-Tahoe chapter of the American Marketing Association has over 140 members. For scheduled luncheons and meetings, as well as leadership information, please visit www.RenoTahoeAMA.com.

The American Marketing Association, one of the largest professional associations for marketers, has 38,000 members worldwide in every area of marketing.
