Join the AMA this month for a presentation by Brett McGinness who has served as the Director of Marketing for the Reno Aces since 2007.

Brett graduated in 2000 from the advertising sequence of the University of Nevada’s Reynolds School of Journalism. He spent seven years working for the San Francisco Giants in consumer marketing research, sponsorship, and promotions. He initiated plans to celebrate the Giants’ 10,000th franchise victory, and to create Major League Baseball’s first alternate-language game jerseys. He also developed single-game attendance prediction metrics and created the team’s first partial-season ticket packages. As an intern in 2001, he served coffee to Willie Mays, and has the partially-chewed swizzle stick to prove it.

He has overseen marketing efforts for the Aces since before a shovel even hit the dirt at Second and Evans. Since then, he has overseen the “name the team” process, the team’s marketing database, advertising design and layout, and the team website. And occasionally, he uses his college degree to dress up like a gorilla to entertain fans.

Brett created the team’s award-winning social media program, and has just launched a new social media-based fan rewards program. Learn how through an integrated marketing program which includes social media experiences, any business can better engage their followers and turn fans into customers.

On January 23, 2012, the Student AMA Chapter at UNR received the wonderful news that our Integrated Marketing plan had been selected as one of the top 20 plans in the nation for the 34rd Annual AMA Collegiate Competition.

The team consists of 10 students who worked on the campaign outside of their regular classes and on a strictly volunteer basis. To attend the conference, the estimated cost is $8,000. Through associated student funding and various other fundraising efforts, including selling 300+ Beat UNLV headbands, they have raised $2,500 on our own, but they still have a long way to go.

To meet their goal, they need sponsorships from associations like yours. They are seeking donations to help defray the cost of travel and registration expenses for their team. Would you consider giving a donation?

Much of our personal world has been recommended by our friends. Our friends influence us on the purchases we make, the music we listen to, the restaurants we try. In fact, no other marketing medium has ever been as effective as the recommendations from friends.

And then Facebook came along.

Facebook has the unique capability of publicizing these word-of-mouth conversations to the world. And it’s important that your customers are saying the right things about you. But how does a business build a professional, yet engaging buzz around their business in this social atmosphere?

Join us February 22nd and listen to Eric Bengston uncover 10 social media strategies that help build your business and grow its customer network.

Facebook (along with Twitter, LinkedIn, Yelp, etc.) is an essential tool to market a business. From designing a professional-looking Welcome Tab, to developing content strategies, and even running Facebook ads or contests to get more fans, Facebook grows customer networks.

Our Speaker: Eric Bengston is from Denver and is the general manager of Swift Digital, a social media agency division of Swift Communications. After working at IBM for years, Eric jumped into the entrepreneurial world and found his niche in digital marketing. Swift Digital’s success has been built by developing engaging social media strategies for clients, such as Tahoe.com, Juniper Hill, De La Fuente Cadillac and the Greeley Stampede.
